PostSubject: [RP] The Scarlets enlist.   Wed May 27, 2009 9:21 am

[Greetings, this is a roleplay thread. I invite all Scarlets to roleplay their enlistment to the crusade in here, the enlistment to the Enclave that is]

Dathran uncorks his flagon of water, taking a long sip after having shouted the whole afternoon. After the Enclave's fall in Lordaeron, he had come to Stormwind to recruit new soldiers to the order. Dathran frowns as he notices a large group of men and women enter the Dwarven Embassy and he quickly reaches for parchment and ink, smiling at his future companions

Welcome! Welcome. You there, sit down. The rest of you, line up properly unless you wish to sit near the entrance.

Dathran smiles at the person before him before asking his usual questions

Tell me, why are you actually interested in serving us?

You.

I see, I see..interesting. Do tell, why do you think you have any use inside our order?

You.

We can certainly use you, however you do know we are not loved as order?

You.

Very well, explain to me why -I- should pick -you-. If you fit in, we'll gladly accept you and supply you with equipment.

Dathran leans onto his desk, occasionally nodding as he listens

Dathran frown's, recognising the familiar characteristics of the person before him beneath his hood, before asking his usual questions

Tell me, why are you actually interested in serving us?

As you can see, i am cursed to be a Death Knight, but before i was this mockery of life, i was a Scarlet Crusader, i was killed in the taking of whats now known as "Death's Breach" North of the ruins of the enclave, I wish for nothing more than to prove myself a Scarlet once again, and aid in the retaking of Lordaeron.

I see, I see..interesting. Do tell, why do you think you have any use inside our order?

After being a part of the Lich King's mind, i've been left with a part of his knowledge on Scourge tactics, i know little of Necromancy, so i'm afraid i cannot help to reverse the process at all. Even though the light does not flow through me anymore, i have been granted a new power in my undeath, the irony being i would use this power for Destroying the ones who made me what i am.

We can certainly use you, however you do know we are not loved as order?

The recruit smiles and shuffles his hood a little giving a better view of his eyes.

I am not much loved by anyone anymore, being hated is nothing new.

Very well, explain to me why -I- should pick -you-. If you fit in, we'll gladly accept you and supply you with equipment.

Dathran leans onto his desk, occasionally nodding as he listens

As i have said, i hold some knowledge of the Scourge, and can put this to good use within the Order, my powers can be put to no better use than to crush the Scourge in Lordaeron, and reclaim our defiled lands.
I have lost everything i once held dear to me, i believe i have no other purpose than to Aid the Order and lend my strength.
That is all i can offer Sir.

I have had some experience of Stormwind's treachery of abandoning its own. I am a former resident of Darkshire which was left to sucomb to darkness despite its proximity to Stormwind itself. The Enclave seem to be the only people willing to reclaim what was ours and not dedicate themselves on fighting in far off lands leaving our homes and farms for the scourge to desecrate.

I see, I see..interesting. Do tell, why do you think you have any use inside our order?

I began my training as a paladin in order that I might help free my homeland. Though I am not yet as skilled as some, I make up for this lack of experience in drive and passion.

We can certainly use you, however you do know we are not loved as order?

The noble path is a lonely one, history will speak better of us for our actions.

Very well, explain to me why -I- should pick -you-. If you fit in, we'll gladly accept you and supply you with equipment.

I am a paladin with huge potential. My retribution against those who would see us weakened and fall will swift and without mercy. My youth simply means I have not been corrupted in my ways by those who have given into age and time. The Scarlet Enclave represent a return to former and rightful glory, so i seek to represent them!

You see, I have been traveling around The Eastern Kingdoms together with my father for as long as I can remember, mining at different sites and prospecting new ones..
*Terrel Looks down into the ground*
My.. my father died two months ago in a mine collapse, and that left me without friends nor' family to turn to.
*Terrel sighs deeply and looks back up at Dathran*
My mother died before I even was a year old, and all of my known relatives lived in stratholme before it got overrun..
None that I know about made it out alive..
After I realised this I began to think... To think about my purpose..
When my father was alive, mining seemed so obvious to me.. But now it doesn't.. I couldn't know less about what I'm supposed to do anymore...
*Terrel stops for a moment*

When I heard your speech, everything became clear to me..
Fighting for something so righteous, to be a part of something much greater is what I want to do.
And I saw my chance to do so by joining the Enclave!

I see, I see..interesting. Do tell, why do you think you have any use inside our order?

I'm not much of a fighter nor' scholar, but I do have the strength to help out with any hard labour that has to be done.
Just tell me where I can be of most help and I'll do as good as I can.

We can certainly use you, however you do know we are not loved as order?

I know that indeed, but it doesn't bother me..
I believe that making a change is more important than being liked.

To do what I believe is right is all that matters to me.

Very well, explain to me why -I- should pick -you-. If you fit in, we'll gladly accept you and supply you with equipment.

As I said earlier, I ain't much of a fighter as I haven't been trained for it..
But as I've spent all my life mining and am a quick learner, I do think I got the strength and will to help out in the best way you see fit!

(( Right, Merthyc joined the crusade in his youth years, so i can't really play along with the interview table, though here comes his real enlistment. ))

Night. The dark shadow of nightfall had crept over the once green hills of Lordaeron, and the farmers of Northdale retreated to their homes, afraid of the new horrors that had been rumoured to creep the lands. Word had spread of the undead, strangers spoke of whole villages being destroyed, corpses of old risen to dwell across the fields.

But untill that night, it had stayed at rumours for the inhabitants of Northdale.
This however, was about to change.
Restlessly, Merthyc lay under his bedsheets, the night was warm, and his mother was ill, she caught the disease a few days ago. His father was a part of the night watch, and he was on duty. Merthyc was staring at the ceiling above him, as a cry rang through the town.
'To arms, men, to arms, monsters approach the town gate!
Merthyc shot up from his bed, and ran to the window overlooking the town square, he could see men hurrying from their houses, carrying all the weaponry and armor they could bear. Pitchforks, swords, pieces of mail, leather, here and there even some plate, as the men were running towards the town gate, a shrill cry cut through the air.
No! Light ai-Aaaaaagh!
Winged demons had descended from the skies, diving towards the unprepared townsfolk that had risked themselves outside.
The gargoyles picked a few men straight from the ground, carrying them high up, and letting them fall to their gruesome faith.
Merthyc wanted to do nothing more then avert his eyes from this display of pure horror, but his eyes coulden't dislodge from the massacre. The town was in panic now, wives and children fled from their homes to flee, or to try and aid their men.
They have breached the gate, stop them, by the light, we must preva-
The town crier did not get the chance to finish his alert, he was cut off by a geist jumping him, the only cries that would be heard of him, were those of his death, ripped apart by the claws of the undead.
The town square was rapidly turning into the center of the turmoil, as more and more guards rallied there, followed by more and more undead. Gargoyles soared overhead, screeching at such a high pitch that numerous windows broke, alike the one Merthyc was behind. Glass sprang in front of him, cutting his arms and hands wich he used to protect his face from the worst.
He cried out as his arms bled heavily, even though the cuts weren't that deep. He quickly used some pieces of his bedsheet he tore apart to bind his wounds, as his mother had taught him. With the glass gone, he could clearly hear the sounds of battle growing more and more intense. Fire was starting to creep over the buildings of the town, and the night sky was filled with ashes in a matter of minutes. The child decided he could not stay inside, and although he was frightened to risk himself outside, he knew that staying would get him killed too.
At that time, a terrible ruckus could be heard coming from his mother's room. He quickly ran towards her bed, fearing for her life. However, he was too late. And even if he had been in time, he could have done nothing to save her. The plague of undeath had gotten to her, as she slowly rose from the bed in an unearthly manner, Merthyc could easily see, this was not his mother.
Huaaaaaaaargh! Exclaimed the ghoul, that had once been his mother, as she charged towards the child.
Merthyc could do nothing but watch in awe and shield his face with his arms, as the horror charged towards him, clawing menacingly. Just before they clashed, a cry was heard as his father sprinted into the room, and bashed the ghoul away.
His father was in a bad state. Scarred all over, little was left of his shield, and his sword had taken heavy blows, alike his chainmail armor. Panting heavily, he turned towards the child, and exclaimed:
Son, the town is lost, you have to flee, don't worry about me, do not look back, RUN!
Just as he finished his command, the ghoul sprang from the room, jumping the man. A great struggle exploded into the room, as his father tried to block off the clawing strikes of what was once his mother.
After one short glance at his parents, he did as he was told, and ran downstairs, leaving the sounds of fighting, and the screams of them both behind. As he opened the door, the scenery of the town square unfolded before him.
Bands of the town garde were fighting valiantly to battle the undead off, but they were outnumbered, and their equipment was far too poor. Ashes were raining down upon the square, that mixed with the blood and flesh of the fallen. The skies were red with the shine of the buildings caught ablaze, with gargoyles circling above.
As he watched all this in awe, a skeletal archer was watching him too. Stringing up one of his arrows, he silently took aim for the child, not knowing that he was about to meet his end.. or un-end.
No! Kid, watch ou-Agh! Exclaimed one of the town militia, as he sprang in front of Merthyc, and was caught by the arrow.
The shot was utterly lethal, and the man fell to the floor, on top of the young boy.
Merthyc tried, with all his might, to escape from under the corpse, but the weight of the full grown man was too great, and he was trapped. As the blood dripped from the man's chest, it leaked on the child, the child that was trapped to watch the full massacre unfold as the town garde was murdered. As the buildings were burnt down to the ground. As the men that had defended the town with their lives, were now risen as the undead.
He however, remained unnoticed. Hidden beneath the corpse, among many corpses. As dawn crept over the once green hills of Lordaeron, the undead retreated, leaving the town in ash, and the bodies to rot.
Long hours passed, the child remained dead still, the images of the destruction of his world repeating through his head.
These horrible images were interrupted by the sounds of marching.
Men, wearing crimson red armor, moved into the town, their white tabards with a red flame in the middle wavering in the wind. They started piling up the corpses of the fallen, mumbling prayers, and setting them ablaze.
As one of the men lifted the body of the militia, there he found Merthyc, alive, covered in blood and ashes, quivering over his whole body.Sir, I believe you'd like to have a look at this, we may have ourselves a new recruit...

(( EDIT : Ignore this whole story, timeline is screwed up! ))

Tell me, why are you interested in serving us?

I grew up in Darrowshire, of noble descent - I want to take my home back, for the better or for the worse.

I see, I see..interesting. Do tell, why do you think you have any use inside our order?

Let's say it like this - Give me two bullets and you're guaranteed three kills.

We can certainly use you, however you do know we are not loved as order?

I'm not doing this to be loved or cherished for my actions.

Very well, explain to me why -I- should pick -you-. If you fit in, we'll gladly accept you and supply you with equipment.

You probably need someone who can handle bombs, grenades, rifles, sneaking and assassination.
