For the Group!

I mentioned a little about this yesterday night but no one seemed all too interested as I got no replies (Nothing new for me when saying anything in /g). The point is this:

We all roll new, shiny level one's and RP them through the game. It can be either faction, any race, so long as they all fit together somehow. They could be life-long friends, if they're all the same race they could be family. It's an idea that has been tried and failed a dozen times in the past. Never the less, with the devotion some of our members show to the guild, it wouldn't surprise me if we could get something like this off the floor

There would be a group of five of us (So only 5 out of the guild can come on this) or, if enough people decide they want to try this, we can make two seperate parties. Heck, maybe one horde and one alliance, eh?

I'll wait for some people to show interest in this before making any kind of "Big Bad Info Dump". Surfice to say if this does ever happen, we would all need to discuss days of the week on which we're free. Thank you for your time!

if this does come to fruitition, only 1 race and 1 class of each should be allowed. that way you get a real contrast and blend of personalities, skills, accents and ideas, which could lead to some fun rp. that's what I think at least

Mmkay - Now that I've spoke about this is /g, it;s time to add more detail. Several questions need answering, so try to include your answer if you reply

Server: We can do this on the Sha'Tar or try a whole new server. I'm up for either.
Faction: Horde or Alliance? I mean, it's gotta be one of them...
Race: All the same or different races? If we're the same, it could be a bit dull in some ways. On the other hand, it'd mean we really would be able to start from level 1 and get rep with our home city from the very start!
Class: Do we all take different classes or should we let some people choose the same one twice? For all being different, it allows each of us a unique RP choice in the group, where as two+ being one kind of class gives them the chance to compare, help and argue over who's better
Proffesions: Same as class - Everyone choose different ones so we can all benefit from one anothers proffessions or let some people roll the same one (They can always spec differently in their proffesions anyways).
History: Would we be forced to work with one another to stop some cruel force out there picking us off one-by-one or would we all be life-long friends whom, in the end, decided to become adventurers?
Allignemt: We can be good guys, bad guys or a mix.

Those are the questions. After I have enough people who've voted (5+) I'll write down what we're going to do and then get people rolling on their race/class combo's You'll see later, when we have 5+ replies with votes :3 My answers for them (You can skip the rest of the post, you'bve read everything useful now):

Sever - Not bothered (So long as it's RP)
Faction - Alliance
Race - Total mix, no 2 the same
Class - total mix, no 2 the same
Proffesion - Total mix, no 2 the same
History - Life-long friends
Allignment - Mixed

but to condence what I put into your survey form :

Sever - Any, but I hear Argent Dawn is good for this kinda thing.
Faction - Alliance
Race - All different
Class - All different (but keep to the nomal ideas... mabye tank/Healer/Melee dps/ Spell dps/ ranged dps? )
Proffesion - All different, but appropriate, for example a tank who makes robes? weird.
History - PuG!
Allignment - doesn't matter really... just as long as you don't get two extremes... they'd never work together

Ooh ooh, slightly off it. but to get the different races goin... they could have banded together to help push back the Defias? it's a quest chain, takes you through a few areas, and provides a solid story that can evolve and evolve...

Server: Don't care. Prefer the Sha'tar so I can easily switch to levis.

Class: All different (like Stoen said, might be nice to do instances this way also)

Alignment: Ehm, this ain't Dungeons and Dragons right? But I would say in that way Good or Neutral mix.

If we go Alliance then I would like to play a warlock (gnome or whatever race can do it)
If we go Horde then I would like to play a shaman (tauren ftw)

So, say we go alliance - What race/class combo's do you all want? If we have 5 members, they can all say which race/class combo they want then draw straws for who gets one if more than one person wants it. I'd have to say we need stereo-type race/class combo's By that I mean - What're the chances your group would have a Gnome as its front-line fighter? The little bugger would get punted if he were real!

I like Tarn's idea, but as I can't remember it, these are the ones I like the sound of
Gnome - Mage
Human - Warrior
Draenei - Paladin
Dwarf - Hunter
Night Elf - Druid

Anyone have other ideas for this alongside the usual survey questions? EG: We don't have a warlock or priest there, Humans have been following the light longer so they could be the pally instead. I'd like to have an efficient group, like Stoen said methinks. You know, Tank, healer then 3 dps classes It could really work to our advantage in many situations.

Also, if too many people want to join (Say we get 8 wanting to do this) then we -could- have an aposing side, a group on the Horde side But I'm getting ahead of myself here. First - Decide how we go about this via survey questions. Second - Decide the Race/class combo's and who's playing what. Third - Everything else.

Here's my idea for the class/race combo =

Dwarf = Warrior (Short, stocky tough, crazy, need I say more?)
Human = Mage (So versatile here...)
Nelf = Hunter (you get the idea here...)
Gnome = Rogue (Classic, and makes sense)
Draeni = Priest (Light and come on... healing squids!)

In responce to Stoen's Dwarf Warrior comment - "What the hell are you grinning at!? That warrior looks hell-bent on raping both our family trees!"

Anyways, I heard someone talking about Warlocks, and I think that a Gnome Warlock would just be silly xP If we had a warlock, I vote he be Human. Dwarf Warrio - Nice idea, nothing says "Fear me" like a drunken brawler A Night Elf hunter'll have to be a female so we can pass her off as a sentinal in my view xD A Gnome Rouge? Could work, but what about their "Expansive mind"? Come in, lets play to each races raciels

Race - One of each I say, if none wants to be dreanei then Id be OK with another human.
Class - Absolutely unique classes. I was thinking: Human Paladin, Dwarf Hunter, Dreanei Priest, Gnome Mage and Night Elf Druid. Meaning it would be fun IMO to be stereotypes
Proffesion - Miged aswell so that we wont argue over resources that we find along the way
History - (Life-long) friends
Allignment - Neutral good. Or Chaotic Neutral

Oooh, me too! it's all quite classic, but makes sense, you've got tight bonds (Pally/Priest) and polar opposites (Mage/Drood) and if the Drood is Feral ^^ we've got a "Classic" group of tank, heal and all 3 kinds of dps =D

Polar Opposites would be Priest + Druid more than anything. The Druid believes in Nature where as Priests believe in the light. That or a Warlock and a Pally... If we have a Draenei, we can't have a Warlock as the Draenei would end up strangling the poor bugger to death. Well, we could have them in the same group, watch the fun break out. 1 More survey post and we can delve deaper into it all.

Class - Not too worried either way, but I like the idea of different classes, 'cause I'm always a pally or mage.
Proffesion - Different proffesions according to RP background.
History - Life-long friends, bu-ut I like the idea of them being thrown together FF1 style. The Light Warriors they ain't.
Allignment - Chaotic Good. J/K, but I think that we shouldn't be totally perfect law-abiding drones. Like, we go kill some defias, but we "accidentaly" burn down the occupied farm, for example. Fun for all.

Oooh, tasty ^^ so they walk the line, and sometimes get carried away with themselves...

Yeah, it injects a bit of humour into it, so we wouldn't be serious ALL the time.

Right then, now that that is done with there are a few things to be covered. Only 5 have voted so far, but i know of 2 who are going to, so we might end up with 2 groups of 5 People who have voted and are going to be part of the group are:

Now then, the next group of questions. These are all to do with your character, the one you'll be rolling. Please, and I'm sure you'll all agree with me saying this, choose a race/class/proffesion combo that you would see as a stereo type.

Name: Your guy or gal has to be called something.
Race: If two people want to be one race, you'll have to draw straws. Looser chooses another race
Age: How old's your guy or gal?
Class: Same as Race when it comes to two people wanting one class. The class has to fit well with their lore, like a Gnome Mage or a Human Paladin.
Proffesions: Same as Race if two people want 1 Proffession. I sudjest they fit with your class. You know, a mage wouldn't have the bulging muscles to go mining and a warrior would hardly pick up his knitting needles.
Description: A very, very short description of how your guy is. How he looks or acts.
History: How did your guy or gal come to befriend the others in the group?
Allignment: You can be Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Neutral Good, True Neutral or Chaotic Neutral No evil allignments, so say the votes.

The races you can be:
Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf or Draenei.
The classes you can be:
Warlock, Mage, Shamman, Druid, Warrior, paladin, Priest, Hunter, Rogue
Race / Class combo's I think are stereo types and would work:
Human - Rouge, Warlock, Mage, Warrior, Paladin
Dwarf - Warrior, Hunter
Gnome - Mage, Warlock, Rogue
Night elf - Hunter, Druid

Allignment - Chaotic good - Works for the greater good but breaks laws when it suits him and despises the "Guy who tries to push him around".

Proffesions: Mining / Engineering (Mining is ooc only... if that\'s allowed)
Description: Scruffy (hence his nickname, which he resents). Brown hair, small goatee, stained fingers, and often large stains on robe. screwdriver behind his left ear. in his belt is a spanner and a hammer. often seen wearing engineer goggles and a pair of dungarees, or his leathers, which change regularly
History: Fendwel took the chance to go out, explore, and find new things to play with and turn into nice, shiny inventions... oh the shinies... shinies... presioussssss.... *cough*
Allignment: Chaotic Neutral. You get the idea

Stoen, you could simply ask any character who you believe would be a miner for ore By that, I mean if a warrior or other well tonned member of the group takes up mining, simply ask him for resources. If we're on The Sha'Tar, you can always send mats from your mains to catch up with proffesions as Mining is used in Engineering, Jewelcrafting and Blacksmithing Anyways, we'll see who else picks what first. If a more realistic member picks mining, it'll give you a free space for another skill.

I had a bad thought: Starter areas
If we do them seperatly, we might end up getting different amouts of exp
If we do them together, all races who don't start in the one we pick will have extra exp from getting there
and doing all 4 starter areas will not only take forever, but would be strange to do icly, and gear would be repeated, just with different skins.
Perhaps if, for example, the human runs to the Dwarf/Gnome starter area, then runs back with the Gnome and Dwarf? But then Draeni and Night Elves would have more exp.
Mabye we ask Eth to port us all to SW seperatly? that might work, and we'd all start together... perhaps even getting some rp on why we head off to Northshire?

I like the Portal idea very much I can see us all meeting in the Mage Tower when another member walks in via the "Anywhere in the world to here" portal (The one which doesn't do anything when you walk through it) It would also give us the excuse of walking to Northshire and then start our questing.

The other option is everyone leveling to a certain level then starting. We don't all have to have the exact same amount of exp, instances could set us off balance anyway if someone died
